A Slow Run

Its was the the 11th June and in preparation for the Swansea Half Marathon, I needed to go for a long slow run to see it I could complete the distance.

I started from Merthyr Centre and made my way uphill to Dowlais, which was uphill for a least 4km. I reached Dowlais feeling comfortable

I then ran onto Pant and for the first time I took a bottle of water and while taking water at this point, while running, I lost the top and then had to run with the bottle covering the top. Which was awkward.

I ran past Brecon mountain railway, down to Ponsticill. I was running well and felt comfortable and could’nt believe that I was handling all the up hills really well. Running towards Trefechan I had one more steep hill to tackle, but I did it. WOW!! I thought!!

I then ran into Cefn Coed and downhill back to the town centre. My legs were now beginning to tire and painful, but I had to find another 6km. So I decide a little detour and did some laps arounds Cyfartha Park pond, but my legs could not take any further punishment.

I pushed onto to Georgetown, before finally giving up. I was disappointed to only get to 17km and the Swansea Half Marathon was fast approaching. How was I going to find the extra 5km. Hill sprint session it will be I think.
